Mirror, Mirror

Big Idea: Our true identity is found in Christ, who defines us and gives us purpose in our lives.

In John 1:19–28, we encounter a powerful scene: priests and Levites from Jerusalem—sent by the Pharisees—approach John the Baptist and interrogate him about his identity. His ministry had grown, and his bold preaching and unusual lifestyle had stirred up spiritual, political, and religious curiosity. But rather than build a brand around himself, John did something radical. He said: “I am not the Christ.” He knew who he was—and who he was not.
